Installation Dinner/Dance

MSA will celebrate its installation of 2009 Officers January 10th at the American Legion on 75th Street West. Come join fellow MSAer's for our first event of 2009 as we begin the New Year and welcome in our Officers.

There will be a cash bar open all evening and you can cance the night away to the music of Larry Reich and his keyboard.

Boat Parade

Beginning at 6:30 PM, decorated boats will be on parade in the Manatee River. See News article.

MSA Christmas Party

Don and Mary Burkhardt, have graciously invited all of the members of the MSA, to their lovely home, for Christmas. For those of you that have never been there, it is one of the highlights of the year. Don and Mary will provide Ham and Beef for the entree and ask that the rest of us bring side dishes, casserole, bread, dessert, etc. Also bring your own beverages.

Taste of Manatee

Make plans to attend in this fall's premier food event, the 2008 Taste of Manatee, presented by the Rotary Club of West Bradenton.

The 2008 Taste of Manatee is a 2-day celebration featuring great food and entertainment. Sample the cuisines from local restaurants while enjoying entertainment and activities for the entire family. Enjoy a cold Budweiser or a refreshing Coca Cola while strolling along the riverfront or watching a football game on the large screen TV.

Nov 1-2, we plan to cruise down the river and pull in to Twin Dolphin Marina. Anyone interested in staying at the marina give Betty & Ed a call so we can reserve your slip. (518-4493). We will plan on happy hour on JLUA around 3 or 4 pm then walk around and savor all the great foods at event.

Boat Renaming Ceremony

It's finally getting cool enough at night to sleep aboard. Come on out the week-end of Saturday, Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct 12. We'll plan to sail in Tampa Bay, perhaps a "fun" sort of race and then around 3 pm raft up in a daisy wheel by the cross at DeSoto Point on the Manatee River. The ceremony will be just before sunset. The more boats the merrier!! MSA will provide burgers, buns, and condiments. Bring a appetizer, side dish or dessert to share. We'd like to know who's coming so email Ann Bemis (annbemis@gmail.com ) or Debby Marcum ( mrsmarcum34@yahoo.com ) if you're planning on attending. Ed and Betty will be out of town.

There is also nice anchorage just out side of Marina Jack as well. Plans are to meet at OLeary's Grill Saturday around 4-5ish.

Please reserve your slip with Betty Burton by June 12 otherwise call Holiday Inn directly at 1 727-867-1151 and ask to speak with dockmaster. We will have a room available under name Ed & Betty Burton/ MSA to use as hospitality room. Please bring appetizer to share and BYOB. We will have some beer & wine from the club available . Plan on Breakfast the next day bringing something to share as well at 8:30AM in the same room. We have reserved a room with microwave . Bradenton Beach Cruise

Cruising Event - Bradenton Beach Cruising captains will monitor # 72 for MSA event and also have 16 for late arrivals.
Cruising event on May 17 to start with race time 11:00 at ICM #70 and sailing to Bell marker #3 south east of Eggmont passing on the port side. Then continuing west to marker southwest channel marker #1 again passing on your port side. Continue on south to LB pass outer marker #1 which will be finish line. We will then travel through Long Boat pass bridge and head north on ICW to Bradenton Beach Pier. There is anchorage just south of the pier and will post area on web page as to how to get into anchorage at later date. We will either raft up to JLUA or dingy over to JLUA for a Happy hour gathering (please bring some munchies to share, beer, rum and sodas provided) and then plan on dinner at Rotten Ralph's around 7-7:30. They also serve breakfast and we suggest meeting around 8:30 for breakfast there as they do get crowded on Sunday AM.

Those traveling by land can meet at the Bradenton Beach Pier around 4:30-5pm. you can call my cell 518-4493 or 518-4494 and we will dingy in to bring you out to the Happy hour. Or you can meet us for dinner around 7pm. You can pull your boats into the floating dock at Bradenton Beach Pier but there is no over night dockage allowed. Terra Ceia Regatta

The time is at hand. The 12th Annual MSA Terra Ceia Regatta - "Ahoy Mates" is nearly upon us! In fact, it's NEXT week-end!

Saturday, April 12 - Seabreeze Park, Terra Ceia Island. Happy Hour begins @ 4:00 P.M. Bring your own cooler. Dinner will be catered. Music throughout the afternoon and evening. Awards ceremony following the dinner. Then a bonfire. Campers welcome. Join in the communal breakfast the "morning after."

Mystery Clues Cruise - First outing of the 2008!

2008 Cruising Captains Ed and Betty Burton have a surprise awaiting MSA'ers. Prepare your vessels and meet at marker #2 at Manatee River at 10 A.M. Instructions to be given out at that time at the marker (remember it is a mystery cruise). Plan to do some navigation so you will need basic navigation tools and a chart of Manatee River/Anna Maria/ Tampa Bay Channel for the Cruise. Also plan a possible raft up and evening anchorage that night pending weather with sharing heavy snacks and drinking will be involved. Check in on Channel 16 - from there . . . it's a mystery!
